HANDS UP
The gestures of raised hands, HANDS UP, can be a symbol of state violence and oppression. But they can also express an act of protest, remembrance and liberation. In their new performance, the stuttgart based artists Tyler Cunningham and Emilia Dorr evoke real and imaginary gestures of raised hands and encounter not only the ghosts of the past, but also a very personal and violent present. The elephant in the room. And since the elephant is in the room, they use this unique opportunity to address what makes them uncomfortable. Because it is also worth addressing things when we are stumbling.
