Nachtstück No. 6
Spending the night together can be a special experience: sleeping over at a friend’s house as a child, ‘pulling an all-nighter’ for the first time as a teenager, watching the sunrise afterwards, hanging out together at an airport.
In ancient times, it was customary to spend the night in certain temples in order to receive messages or healing from the gods in dreams. This is called temple sleep or dream incubation.A kind of dream pilgrimage.
While the day is used productively, consciously and clearly brightly lit, the night stands for the other, the unknown, the mysterious, the uncanny, for everything that cannot be conceptualised.Having fallen out of the routine of everyday life, attention, feelings and thoughts intensify.
Together with 22 guests, O-Team embarks on an expedition to experience and reflect on this nocturnal state more consciously. In the project space of the Kunstverein Wagenhalle, a transcendental sleep laboratory is created in which the boundaries between sleeping and waking, between dream and reality become permeable. The night piece is a joint eleven-hour meditative ritual with elements of object theatre, endless concert and performed art installation.O-Team invites you to come to rest together, to doze, dream and sleepwalk, to be unproductive and slumber away. In search of a tiredness that makes us more receptive, more permeable, more sensitive. The scenic experiment begins in the late evening and ends in the morning with breakfast together.
