POPUP-WERKSTATT SCHWARZE DEUTSCHE LITERARISCHE PERSPEKTIVEN
The POPUP-WERKSTATT SCHWARZE DEUTSCHE LITERARISCHE PERSPEKTIVEN project sets the tone for the promotion of Black German-language literature in Stuttgart. For two months, a place will be created in the corner shop that presents Black German literary perspectives as part of a workshop installation experience. In various formats, Black German-language literature will be literature in an experimental way and thus create more visibility. In addition, from 6th to 9th November 2024, a literature festival consisting of readings, performances, workshops and a children’s programme. These different formats will provide visitors with tools to engage with Black German literature and to recognise what it has to do with their lives and everyday life. This Installation is based on 3 pillars.
Pillar 1: Experience literature with all your senses
Station 1: Listening
Immerse yourself in the world of Black German literature by listening. In our listening room, you will experience audio collages with spoken texts accompanied by curated background music. Headphones and loudspeakers are available to take you on this impressive acoustic journey.
Station 2: See
Be inspired by visual performances and images from the digital women’s archive. Impressive performances are shown on a large video screen, while picture frames and text panels with captions illustrate the history of literature. Information panels on the history of literature provide additional information and can be presented flexibly on display or pin boards.
Pillar 2: Understanding literature
Station 3: Reading corner with reference library
Our reading corner invites you to linger and browse. Here you will find a reference library categorized by genre, genre and period. We particularly recommend the children’s and young adult books from the Black Children’s Library Bremen. Comfortable sofas, side tables and warm lighting create an inviting atmosphere.
Pillar 3: Encounter literature
Events: Our workshop also becomes an event venue. Experience the curator tours and immerse yourself in the exhibition. Other highlights such as the Zwischen/miete Special or the Literally Lunch at JOiN have already passed, but you can read the recap on our website and social media channels. The curator tours and events offer unique opportunities to encounter and discuss Black German literature in a variety of ways.
