Volker Lösch
Volker Lösch has realized over 100 drama and opera productions to date. “The Dresdner Weber” was voted performance of the year by the magazine ‘Die deutsche Bühne’ in 2005. From 2005 to 2013, he was in-house director and member of the artistic direction at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, where he staged 16 productions. His productions of “Marat/Sade” based on Peter Weiss at Schauspielhaus Hamburg in 2009 and “Tartuffe oder Kapital und Ideologie” based on Molière/Piketty in Dresden in 2022 were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. In 2013, he received the Lessing Prize of the Free State of Saxony. In his works, he often brings together representatives of different social groups with professional actors. Most recently, he staged “Recht auf Jugend” at Schauspielhaus Bonn with activists from the Last Generation, Brecht’s “Dreigroschenoper” in the Reichsbürger and AfD milieu at Staatsschauspiel Dresden and the opening of the 2024/25 season at Schauspielhaus Bonn, the play “216 Millionen” about climate flight. Outside the theater, he is involved as a political activist, for example against the “Stuttgart21” construction and real estate project. Volker Lösch lives in Berlin.
