PARA
PARA is a group of artists from Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig and Frankfurt am Main that questions various phenomena of globalization and politics of memory in an interdisciplinary, research-based and performative way. PARA means “beside”, “to the side”, “during”, “in difference”, “against” and “towards”. Since 2015, PARA has been working on overcoming current modes of coexistence, mostly site-specific and often in public spaces, with techniques of re-construction and speculation, between research and fiction. PARA is also a label and an approach, and sees itself as a network of artists and experts from various disciplines: The group (currently 10 permanent members with expertise in theater, architecture, visual arts, design, literature and the humanities) grows and shrinks depending on the project; it collaborates with other artists, scientists, activists and civil society actors.
