DIE STEUERERKLÄRUNG is THE big community-building financial event of the year! But soon enough, frustration sets in: Too time-consuming, too complicated, too bureaucratic. And doesn’t the whole system feel like exploitation? Yet the idea of a social welfare state is excellent: a well-functioning tax system could ensure that money goes where it’s needed.

The performance collective hannsjana takes the tax return seriously as a “declaration” and turns it – with a grand glamorous gesture and a group of magpies – into a manifesto for a solidarity-based society. In a spectacularly theatrical way, the performers translate the dry form into their own list of demands for financial justice, taking a feminist look at bureaucratic overload in an entertaining and humorous revue.

The Performance lasts 90 Minutes and uses German spoken and written Language. It is suitable for audience aged 12 and over.

Reflections, flickering and blinding lights are used on stage as well as harsh light changes. At one point there is a black-out. The Audience sits in the dark.

Taxs forms in German are projected onto a screen. There is an interactive scene in which a person from the audience is addressed by a performer.
