GAMES WITHOUT FRONTIERS – JEUX SANS FRONTIÈRES
Games without frontiers was a popular TV show in the 1960s and 1970s and, apart from the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson, the only recurring cross-linguistic entertainment programme broadcast throughout Europe. Under the title Jeux Sans Frontières, Games without frontiers, Giochi senza frontiere, Spel zonder grenzen or It’s A Knockout, selected cities and their teams competed against each other nationally and then internationally in costumed games of skill. It was fun for the whole family, intended to bring the people of Europe together in a playful way, and a media message in a bottle from the past.
Short introduction into the topic (history, rules, Peter Gabriel song), then watching an episode together on a historical player (tube TV, salt sticks, flips).
