Die Lecture-Performance 93 `TIL INFINITY zeigt anhand der Pflanze Sisal-Agave die verschlungene Geschichte von Kolonialisierung, Widerstand und Ausbeutung.
Kathleen Bomani hat in ihren umfangreichen Recherchen die Reise der Pflanze von Yucatan über die Everglades in Florida bis nach Ostafrika erforscht. Durch diese Performance deckt Bomani die verborgenen Narrative darüber auf, wie Sisal zu einem Instrument der kolonialen Ausbreitung wurde, das eng mit der brutalen Realität von Zwangsarbeit, Enteignung der Indigenen, Widerstand und Umweltschäden verbunden war.
Kathleen Bomani nimmt das Publikum mit auf eine Reise durch eine Landschaft, die das Auslöschen und Verschweigen der Kolonialgeschichte aufdeckt und gleichzeitig mit ihren heutigen soziopolitischen und kulturellen Auswirkungen konfrontiert. Der Abend umfasst eine von der Künstlerin komponierte immersive Klanglandschaft, gefolgt von weiteren Erkundungen und Diskussionen.

Das Showing zeigt den aktuellen Stands eines Work-in-progress und findet im Rahmen von Kathleen Bomanis Residenz an der Akademie Schloss Solitude in Kooperation mit der RAMPE statt.

„93 ‚til Infinity“ is a lecture performance that confronts the complex and intertwined histories of colonization, resistance, and exploitation, using the Agave sisalana plant as a lens.
Kathleen Bomani’s extensive research delves into the plant’s journey, starting in the Yucatan, then the Florida Everglades, and finally reaching East Africa. Through this performance, Bomani uncovers the hidden narratives of how sisal became an instrument of colonial expansion, deeply tied to the brutal realities of forced labor, indigenous dispossession, resistance, and environmental damage.
Drawing on both personal history and historical accounts, Bomani takes the audience on a journey through a landscape that exposes the erasures and silences of colonial history, while confronting its present-day socio-political and cultural ramifications. The evening includes an immersive soundscape composed by the artist, followed by further exploration and discussion.

The showing presents the current state of a work-in-progress and takes place as part of Kathleen Bomani’s residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude in cooperation with RAMPE.
